🔴⚫️🟢 The Waylyn Heart Team is hosting a Black History Month Essay Contest.
All entries must reflect the theme of Black History. The subject must be about a Black person, group, event, experience, movement, or outcome that has or is having a significant impact on people of color in your community, in America, or the world. A committee will select four winners (grades 2-3, 4-6, grades 7-9, grades 10-12)
Contest Rules
There are three categories to choose from. If a student submits more then one entry, only one will be eligible to win the contest. A committee will select four winners for the following prizes:
grades 2-3 for $50,
grades 4-6 for $50,
grades 7-9 for $100,
grades 10-12 for $100.
📖 📕 📘 Written Expression
Submit an original essay or original poem that is between 50 and 500 words.
All entries must:
Have a title, the student’s name, school, and grade on the front page.
Be typed in 12 point font. Neatly handwritten entries in pen are acceptable.
Reflect historical knowledge or research and use appropriate language, grammar, and spelling.
Be in the student’s own words or include citations.
